Vilnius NATO Summit // A declaration will be adopted with reference to the Republic of Moldova
A declaration with reference to the Republic of Moldova will be adopted at the NATO Summit that will take place on July 11-12 in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, said in a press conference. The official confirmed that he will attend the meeting of foreign ministers on the sidelines of the summit.
"For our country, the partnership with NATO is very important, it is a very positive partnership that allows us to maintain the Republic of Moldova in conditions of peace and calm. We are working with NATO to strengthen our state security capabilities. NATO is an organization that, together with the European Union, has ensured peace on the European continent for the last 70 years. The European Union and NATO are two organizations that ensured, ensure and will ensure peace in the Euro-Atlantic area. For the Republic of Moldova, these relations are very important, we have a constant dialogue with NATO", declared Nicu Popescu.
The meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of the Military Alliance, but also of the partner states, including the Republic of Moldova, will be chaired by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană.
In an interview for Digi24, the official mentioned that within the Alliance there is impeccable, active and integrated support for our country. Mircea Geoană also said that we are not talking about security guarantees, but the very European course of the Republic of Moldova implies an evolution of the relationship in the security sphere of the EU and NATO. In his opinion, our country is one of the few partners of these organizations, which is currently facing a total hybrid war launched by Russia.
We remind you that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, also participated in the ministerial meeting in Bucharest, last November.
