Bogdan Aurescu, on an official visit to Chisinau

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Aurescu, will, between 19-20 December 2022, pay an official visit to Chisinau, at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu.

The program of the visit of the Romanian official includes meetings with the President Maia Sandu, the President of the Parliament Igor Grosu and the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

"During the discussions, issues related to counteracting the overall impact on the Republic of Moldova of the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine will be addressed. Also, topics of priority interest will be discussed, such as cooperation in the field of energy security, acceleration of sectoral cooperation, economic cooperation and the assistance measures undertaken by Romania for the benefit of the Republic of Moldova", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bucharest reports.

According to the institution, a central topic of dialogue will be the advancement of the European path of the Republic of Moldova as a result of the Republic of Moldova receiving, in June 2022, the status of a candidate state for accession to the European Union and Romania's concrete support for this objective, including the opening of EU accession negotiations.

"In this context, Minister Bogdan Aurescu will highlight the fact that Romania will continue to provide priority, comprehensive and solid support to the Republic of Moldova in the efforts aimed at strengthening energy security, advancing the path of European integration, as well as developing the institutional capacity for the effective implementation of reforms", also notes the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After the delegations' meeting, Minister Nicu Popescu and his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu will hold a press conference.
