The government will subsidise up to 65% of the costs incurred when using energy resources to pump water from irrigation systems

The ceiling for subsidies accessed by Water User Associations has been increased. This was communicated to the Water User Associations for Irrigation (WUAI) by State Secretary Vasile Șarban.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the opportunities for funding Water Users Associations and the need to increase their functionality, informs the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA).

"The state will subsidize up to 65% of the costs incurred by UAAI in the use of energy resources when pumping water from irrigation systems, but no more than 3 million lei for an applicant. We believe that this support will reduce the vulnerabilities of economic activities and motivate farmers to become members of the UAAI", stressed State Secretary Vasile Șarban.

The parties also discussed the AGGRI project, financed by the World Bank, which provides investment grants for the rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure and the financing instruments to be offered by the French Development Agency in the process of adapting agriculture to climate change.
