The Republic of Moldova won seven medals at the Kayak-Canoe World Championship, organized between July 5-9 in Auronzo, Italy. "The results prove the talent and sustained effort of the Moldovan athletes", said President Maia Sandu in her congratulatory message to the athletes.
Thus, Maria Olărașu - Daniela Cociu and Maria Olărașu - Mihail Chihaia became world champions, and Mihail Culceac - Stanislav Banaru won the bronze. In the individual events, Elena Glizan got a silver and a bronze medal, and the canoeists Maria Olărașu and Mihail Culceac took the bronze.
"Behind these results is a lot of work and discipline. Coaches Victor Reneischi and Nicolae Juravschi guided and supported them on the way to success.
Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, their families and success in all competitions", said Maia Sandu.
The team of the Republic of Moldova ranked 4th in the Under 23 age category and 7th in the general ranking.
