Village health centres will be able to market medicines. Legislative initiative - voted in first reading

Village health centres will be able to market medicines. The legislative initiative was tabled by the chairman of the Social Protection, Health and Family Affairs Committee, Dan Perciun, and voted in first reading at today's plenary session.

According to the author of the draft, 5 million lei have already been earmarked for these subsidies in this year's budget rectification.

"Those who live in villages, especially small villages, do not have access to a pharmacy in their locality. This of course affects their ability to get the necessary treatment, especially when we are talking about elderly people who find it difficult to travel to the next village or to the district centre. The draft law is intended to provide an incentive for economic operators to open such pharmacies. Today, out of a total of 1,000 villages, more than 700 do not have a pharmacy. With this project we expect to have at least 50 pharmacies by the end of the year," said Dan Perciun.

The draft law proposes to delegate some of the tasks of licensing pharmaceutical activity in rural localities, so that medical staff of Public Medical Institutions in villages can obtain the right to carry out pharmaceutical activity. Another provision relates to the granting of state subsidies for carrying out pharmaceutical activity in rural localities. The MP's legislative proposal aims to eliminate this major discrepancy between towns and villages. The bill to amend certain laws will be put to the vote in second reading.
