The reaction of some deputies after the suspension of the broadcasting licence of the six television stations
The decision of the Commission for Extraordinary Situations (CSE) by which the broadcasting license of the six television stations was suspended is perfectly legal and was taken as a result of strict monitoring, declared the deputy of the Action and Solidarity Party, Virgiliu Pâslariuc in the program "At 360 degrees" from Radio Moldova.
According to him, there is currently a wave of support for this decision, which was expected in society.
"The fact that they have been given the penalty of license withdrawal means that they are simply not fulfilling their obligations that are placed by law on a media service provider. This shamelessness of theirs that they did not comply with these calls and repeated sanctions from the Audiovisual Council led to this solution, which is perhaps out of the ordinary, but it is legal and is on the side of society", declared Virgiliu Pâslariuc.
On the other hand, the deputy of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Grigore Novac claims that this decision represents a scenario of subjugation of the mass media in the Republic of Moldova. The deputy referred to some articles, which would have been violated by the adoption of this decision.
"There is no longer any wave of appreciation, there is only contempt following this action against the mass media from the Republic of Moldova. The worst thing is that this action directly contravenes Art. 32 of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, which guarantees our freedom of opinion and expression. Likewise, Art. 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which expressly indicates freedom of thought and religion, was trampled upon. Art. 10 of the ECHR Convention, freedom of expression, all at once were trampled on," said Grigore Novac.
Radio Moldova recalls that during the entire period of the state of emergency, six television stations from the Republic of Moldova do not have the right to transmit programs, their broadcast license being suspended. It is about Primul in Moldova, RTR Moldova, Accent TV, NTV Moldova, Orhei TV and TV6. A decision to this effect was adopted at the end of last week by the members of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, in the context in which several deviations were found regarding the coverage of national events, but also of the war in Ukraine.
