Traffic stopped on the Crimean Bridge due to explosion
Traffic has been halted on the Russian-built Crimean Bridge due to an "emergency" situation, officials installed by Russia said on Monday, while Ukrainian media reported explosions on the bridge, Reuters reports. Two people died and one was injured.
Sergei Aksionov, a Russian-installed governor, said the incident occurred at pillar 145 of the bridge linking the Crimean peninsula to Russia's Krasnodar region, but gave no further details.
Ukraine's RBC news agency reported that explosions were heard on the bridge.
The Russian channel Grey Zone, a widely watched Telegram channel affiliated with the Wagner mercenary group, reported that there were two blasts on the bridge at 03:04 and 03:20.
There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.
Crimea was annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014, but is internationally recognized as part of Ukraine.
