Heatwave in Moldova: IGSU advises people to avoid the sun's rays and follow fire prevention rules

In the context of high temperatures, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations advises citizens to stay in the shade, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. If going out of the house is unavoidable, then it is recommended to use sunscreen and light-coloured light clothing.

At the same time, for proper hydration, rescuers urge people to consume enough water throughout the day. Also, those caring for children, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses are urged to protect them from the effects of the heatwave.

"In order to prevent fires in large areas, the fire brigade urges the population to strictly observe the rules of fire prevention and to avoid using fire in dry vegetation or wooded areas. In risk situations, people are asked to call the 112 service immediately."

The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow heat code until 18 July. Over wide areas, the maximum air temperature will reach values of +33ºC and more.
