The parents of a young girl were killed and their daughter was injured. All were in a car that was on the bridge Monday morning, said Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region in southern Russia. He did not specify how the people were killed.
The Russian Federation's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAK) reported that the Crimean Bridge was attacked Monday evening by Ukrainian surface drones.
"At 03:05, two Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles attacked the Crimean bridge," the committee said. As a result of the attack, according to the NAC, the road component of the Crimean bridge was damaged.
According to the NAK, Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article "Terrorist act".
For its part, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said it "notes with interest" that "one of the symbols of the Putin regime has once again failed to withstand the military load".
Earlier, a BBC source in the SBU said that the night attack on the Crimean bridge was a special operation of the naval forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine. The attack, according to the source, was carried out using surface drones.
Also commenting on the attack on the bridge was the advisor to the office of Ukrainian President Mikhail Podoliak.
"Any illegal constructions used to deliver Russian instruments of mass murder are short-lived. Regardless of the reasons for destruction," he tweeted.
