Politicians' views on new government appointments
The appointment of MP Dan Perciun as Minister of Education and Research came as a surprise to no one, because during his term of office he stood out for launching several legislative initiatives, according to representatives of the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition parties. On the other hand, a surprise was the appointment of Adrian Efros, who is not part of the system, as Minister of Internal Affairs. The appointment of Andrei Spînu as minister of infrastructure and regional development is a controversial one, as his previous work has been much discussed in the public arena, politicians say.
The appointment of new ministers in the Government is a cosmetic change, initiated in order to ease the tense atmosphere in society, according to the Bloc of Communists and Socialists MP Grigore Novac. In his opinion, these three ministers will not be able to meet the demands of the citizens.
"If we are talking about Minister Efros, he comes from a military background, which is totally different from that of the Interior Ministry. Dan Perciun, in the last period, was the locomotive that proposed the largest number of projects and legislative initiatives, which came to reform the Ministry of Education. There have been no changes for the better in education in the last two years. As for Mr Spînu, I think that those who listen to us have experienced at first hand who he is, the policies he promotes, how well he negotiated the natural gas contract ".
The president of the Party of Change, Stefan Gligor, believes that the appointment of Interior Minister Adrian Efros would have been unexpected, as he was not a well-known person in the public arena. He also said that the appointment of Andrei Spînu as Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development was controversial.
"I don't think anyone would have expected such an appointment (editor's note: Adrian Efros). It is strange that a candidate from outside the Ministry of Interior was accepted. I think Dan Perciun deserves the trust. The most controversial and shocking for Moldovan society is the appointment of Mr Spînu. In the context of the events that took place, the way gas purchases were made, the doubts and questions that have not been clarified until today. This appointment will do immense political damage to the government ".
Today the appointed ministers were sworn in, in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
