Daniel Vodă: Representatives of the Government will not participate in the inauguration of the new bascan of the Gagauz autonomy
Neither Prime Minister Dorin Recean nor any other representative of the Government will participate, in the evening of today, at the event of inauguration of the new bascan of the Gagauz autonomy.
"Participation in the Comrat event is not on the prime minister's public agenda. Moreover, no other representative of the Executive will participate in this event", said the spokesperson of the Government, Daniel Vodă.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Recean said very clearly that, in communication with the local authorities, the main concern of the Government will be to support the citizens, regardless of the localities they come from. We will work closely with the mayors, with the local authorities.
"The goal of the Executive is to ensure that, regardless of whether they are from Balti, Taraclia, Cahul, Vulcănești, Comrat, Călăraşi, or Ungheni, people benefit equally from the support offered by the authorities," said Daniel Vodă.
We mention that, today, in Comrat, the new Bashkan of the Gagauz autonomy, Evghenia Guțul, will be inaugurated. The festivities that will precede the investiture will begin this afternoon, with a cultural program. The investiture ceremony will take place at 18.30 during a meeting of the People's Assembly.
We remind you that the elections for the position of mayor of UTA Găgăuzia were held on April 30. In the second round, there were the candidates Evghenia Guțul and Grigori Uzun.
The Comrat Court of Appeal validated, on May 22, the results of the elections, confirming the victory of Evghenia Guțul, despite the violations claimed by the law enforcement officers.
On May 19, the National Anticorruption Center announced that it had unsealed the envelopes with the electoral lists confiscated from the Electoral Commission of the Gagauz Autonomous Region. The CNA, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the police have "reasonable suspicions" that the voter lists included deceased or foreigners, which would cast doubt on the election results. On June 19, the Shor Party was declared unconstitutional.
The Acting General Prosecutor stated that, currently, the law enforcement officers are verifying the lists of people who participated in the elections from the autonomy, and in parallel, the correctness of the financing of the electoral campaign is being investigated. According to Ion Munteanu, if fraud is found in the elections for the position of Bascan of the Gagauz autonomy, repeated elections should be organized.
