Adrian Efros announces the resumption of the "White Nights" operation and the launch of another campaign. The new Interior Minister's priority
The Ministry of the Interior will resume "White Nights" operations to make traffic participants who break traffic rules accountable. The announcement was made by the new interior minister, Adrian Efros. At the same time, the official informed that in order to prevent the negative consequences of night rallies the "Stop revving engines" campaign will be launched. Police patrols will also be intensified on rest days, especially in recreational and residential areas.
In his first press conference as head of the MIA, Adrian Efros announced the main priorities of his mandate. The official mentioned decreasing the intervention time down to 15 minutes, increasing citizens' trust in the Interior Affairs system and the MAI's involvement in the country's integration process into the European Union.
"All actions will be guided by three principles-order, discipline and coordination," Efros said.
The Interior Ministry chief said he was intolerant of corruption.
"Zero tolerance for corruption. I am the enemy of systemic corruption and any isolated cases. I assure you that the operations to prevent and combat corruption or similar acts will have the necessary resources to find out the truth and hold the guilty accountable".
Asked by journalists whether the salary of police officers will be increased during his term of office, Adrian Efros said that all available internal resources will be evaluated and then he will present a concrete action plan.
"Certainly the demands on the MAI employee must be balanced with an adequate social package and a transparent guide to ensure predictability in his career".
The Bloc of Communists and Socialists called for a hearing of the new Interior Minister Adrian Efros at today's sitting of Parliament on the rise in road accidents. In this context, BCS MEP Adrian Albu said a change in road safety policy was needed. However, the proposal failed to get the required number of votes.
Andrian Efros was sworn in on 17 July.
