The EBRD President comes to Moldova. Who he will meet

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Odile Renaud-Basso is coming to Moldova next week. The EBRD Director General for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, Matteo Patrone, will accompany her. They have scheduled meetings with the Moldovan authorities, business people, representatives of financial organisations and civil society.

The visit comes after a year of record EBRD investment in the country, which has supported Moldova's efforts to protect its economy against the shock of Russia's war in Ukraine, the institution said in a statement.

A new agreement with one of the EBRD's partner banks could also be signed during her visit.

The EBRD is the largest institutional investor in the Republic of Moldova and is committed to supporting the government in promoting reforms currently focused on transparency in the banking sector, improving the business environment and increasing energy security in our EU candidate country and neighbouring Ukraine.

The EBRD has invested a total of over €2 billion through 166 projects. A record €524 million was allocated last year to support Moldova's economy against the shocks caused by the war in Ukraine. This was more than five times the average annual EBRD investment in the country.
