Health Minister's message after raids at the Cancer Institute: 'And we asked for so little - good attitude'

Health Minister Ala Nemerenco came with a reaction following today's raids at the Oncological Institute in Chisinau. She noted that shameful patterns will be stamped out. Despite the fact that it is not an easy process, the clean-up will take hold, Ala Nemerenco stressed.

"My message should be clear - we do not work on the cheap at the ministry, and other people in other countries pay tens of millions of euros of their contribution to the list listed above to provide some people with holidays, cars, houses and luxury cars. Where the message has not got through we will visit with the NAC. Yesterday in Ialoveni, today at the Oncological Institute, tomorrow elsewhere," the official wrote on her Facebook page.

At the same time, Ala Nemerenco highlighted all the actions that have been taken to modernize the Oncological Hospital. At the same time, she said, the health authorities will propose an "essential" increase in the salary of medical staff in the budget rectification.

"We understand that doctors, medical staff want salaries commensurate with the work they do and modern working conditions, equipment, to provide quality services. We are committed to achieving this within a short timeframe. And we have asked for so little - good, humane attitude towards patients and giving up old habits of taking money where these practices still exist. This money is collected from someone's work. And I can see that it is not a small amount."

14 searches were carried out on Friday, July 21, the Oncological Institute in a file of passive and active corruption in which several doctors in senior positions in the institution are investigated. The individuals are suspected of demanding and accepting illicit remuneration from patients for providing free medical services.
