The Republic of Moldova has obtained membership in the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies
The Republic of Moldova obtains membership of the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Thus, the process of examining the Republic of Moldova's application for membership was successfully concluded, following the consensus reached among the 28 member states.
At the same time, the Republic of Moldova committed itself to uphold the fundamental values enshrined in the founding document of the Community of Democracies.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy, Nicu Popescu, stressed that the Republic of Moldova's membership in the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies demonstrates the confidence of the member states in the actions taken by the national authorities to transform the state by modernising and democratising public institutions.
The Republic of Moldova's accession to the Community of Democracies in relation to our country's work in the United Nations will contribute to the achievement of the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development), as well as to the sustainability of the country's modernization and democratization process in its EU accession process.
