CRJM President: One of the 9 recommendations for the opening of EU accession negotiations has actually been implemented
One of the 9 recommendations for the opening of the accession negotiations to the European Union, namely the one aimed at the justice reform, has practically been carried out. The opinion was expressed by the president of the Legal Resources Center of Moldova (CRJM), Ilie Chirtoacă, in the program "Paralela 47" on Radio Moldova.
He stated that the extended evaluation process of prosecutors, which has recently ended, is more accelerated than in the case of judges, all the conditions have been created for the reset of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, exactly according to the model of the Superior Council of Magistracy, which, according to him, is functioning and representative.
"We have four career prosecutors who can be elected to the new Superior Council of Prosecutors and one person from civil society, who also promoted the pre-vetting. Why are these two institutions important , their members have gone through an integrity filter, so many guarantees have been put in place to increase their independence. The results on how justice is perceived will follow. All the preconditions for this body to take decisions without being influenced from the outside, have practically been taken, and on this side we can say that the commitment has been achieved", declared Ilie Chirtoacă.
We remind that 18 candidates registered for the competition for the position of member in the CSP. Of these, six passed the assessment, eight were rejected, and four others are awaiting the commission's decision.
Recently, the CSP decided to convene the General Assembly of Prosecutors for August 23. It should be noted that the general assembly took place three years ago, although according to the legislation, the forum should be convened annually.
