"Today, around 04:00, drone strikes were reported on two non-residential buildings. No serious damage or casualties. All services are working on the scene. Drone fragments were found on Komsomolskii Prospekt in Moscow, emergency services have indicated," Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram.

At the same time, the Russian Defence Ministry claims that Ukraine tried to attack the Russian capital, BBC reports. Drone fragments were discovered Monday morning near the Russian defence department building.

Kiev has not yet commented on the early morning drone strike on Moscow.

On 4 July, Russian authorities reported four Ukrainian drones had been shot down near Moscow, according to the BBC.

The last major drone strike on Moscow took place on 30 May, when drones crashed into three residential blocks in the south-west of the city. The Russian Defence Ministry said eight UAVs took part in the attack, five of which were shot down.

At the time, reports of the attack came against the backdrop of massive bombing of Kiev.
