Details of the MAEIE: How many employees of the Russian Embassy will remain in Chisinau
After the Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu announced during the Government meeting about the reduction of the number of Russian diplomats accredited in the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) came with clarifications.
Thus, under the decision of the Moldovan authorities, at the current stage, the representation of each state, based on the principle of parity, is to constitute 10 diplomatic positions and 15 administrative, technical and service positions. Currently, the Republic of Moldova has six diplomats accredited to the Russian Federation, while the Russian authorities have 40 diplomats in our country, in addition to the technical staff from the Russian Embassy.
According to the diplomatic note of the MAEIE handed to the Russian side during the meeting, the above-mentioned decision of the Moldovan authorities must be implemented by August 15.
Moscow's reaction was immediate. The spokesperson of the Russian MFA, Maria Zaharova, stated that the decision is unjustified and unfriendly.
