Green light to extend the state of emergency. Parliament to examine government proposal
Parliament will examine the Government's proposal to extend the state of emergency for 60 days. Today the members of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Public Order examined the draft decision providing for this and decided to propose it to the plenary for adoption.
The proposal to extend the state of emergency was submitted by the Government in the context of the imminent danger to national security caused by the war in Ukraine. The information note of the draft decision states that the risks are high also because of the attacks in the vicinity of the NATO border, in the Odessa and Reni regions, close to the border of the Republic of Moldova.
Our country will also be affected after the suspension of the agreement on grain exports through the Black Sea basin, imposed by Russia on 17 July, which will lead to an increase in grain transit through our country.
The state of emergency throughout the country was declared by Parliament on 24 February 2022, on the proposal of the Government, and has been extended several times.
