The head of Termoelectrica has submitted a resignation request after the oil scandal

The general director of SA "Termoelectrica", Vasile Leu, has resigned. The information was confirmed to IPN by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov.

On Wednesday, during the Government meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean asked for the resignation of Termoelectrica management by the end of this week, after the fuel oil scandal. According to the chief executive, the situation is unacceptable. Firstly, said Dorin Recean, the burial of fuel oil is damaging the environment, and secondly, it shows an unprofessional management of Termoelectrica.

Asked by Radio Moldova for a reaction, the interim director of Termoelectrica S.A. Vasile Leu said he would resign.

"I am not in a position to comment, we have no right, decisions are executed. I will comply with this decision," Vasile Leu said.

The leader of Our Party Renato Usatii on July 21 said that "Termoelectrica" would have procured from public money, expensive and poor quality fuel oil, which is buried on the territory of Termoelectrica and that this happened in the autumn of 2022. In this regard, the politician also presented more video evidence. On the other hand, Termoelectrica representatives denied the accusations and said that the images would have been from 2015. Subsequently, representatives of the institution announced that an internal investigation on the case was initiated.

The Chisinau City Prosecutor's Office has taken action on the case and announced that investigations will be carried out.
