Ukrainian citizens find it difficult to find a job in the Republic of Moldova due to low wages
More than 1,300 Ukrainian citizens have found a job in the Republic of Moldova, according to data provided by economic agents. This number is small because most of the refugees are mothers who have no one to leave their children with or who do not know the Romanian language. The statement was made by Ana Gherganova, head of the Directorate for Occupational Policy and Labour Migration Regulation at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, on Radio Moldova's "Paralela 47" programme.
"Many of them do not accept the wage level that is offered in the Republic of Moldova and this information is provided by Ukrainian citizens themselves. They say that those who wanted to work went to Germany, France, Belgium "*.
Ana Gherganova also said that a foreign citizen who comes to the Republic of Moldova must obtain a work permit if he wants to work on the labour market. According to her, this is a time-consuming procedure that requires the submission of a set of documents.
However, for Ukrainian citizens this process has been cancelled and they are granted temporary protection, i.e. they have access to the labour market under the same conditions as Moldovan citizens.
