US official: Russia wants to secure weapons from North Korea for Ukraine campaign
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the real purpose of Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shigu's trip to North Korea is to secure weapons stocks for Moscow's campaign in Ukraine, BBC reports.
Ukrainian soldiers operating the Grad multiple-launch missile system reportedly told the Financial Times reporter that the North Korean weapons were seized from a ship by a friendly country and later delivered to Kiev.
Most of the missiles were manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s and are not high-performance, with many of the missiles missing their target or failing to explode on impact.
This is the first time the use of North Korean weapons has been mentioned in connection with the war in Ukraine.
