Almost 40 percent of Ukraine's energy system was damaged over the winter by Russian missile and drone attacks, but attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have decreased in recent months.

On a visit to the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk on Sunday, Zelenskiy said he expected these attacks to resume in the fall, according to Reuters.

"It is obvious that this fall and ... winter the enemy will try to repeat the terror against the Ukrainian energy industry. We should be prepared for this," Zelenskiy told senior government officials.

"At the government and security level, we will do everything possible," the Ukrainian president noted. Zelenski added that the government, security officials and energy workers are working to protect the energy system from damage, sabotage or cyber attacks.

Every city and town in Ukraine should be prepared to deal with emergencies in the energy sector, he added.
