From today, more medicines and medical devices will be available on the market

From today, more medicines and medical devices will be compensated for people suffering from psoriasis and lupus disease. Also for the first time, patients with diabetes will be compensated for the purchase of insulin needles and syringes. The list of compensated medicines has also been completed with new preparations for the long-term treatment of glaucoma. The director of the National Health Insurance Company, Ion Dodon, told Radio Moldova that this list will be extended in the future.

"For the first time in the Republic of Moldova, syringes and needles for insulin administration will be compensated from compulsory health insurance funds. The rate of compensation for these medical devices is partial, but patients will have access to at least one of the models, which will be fully covered by medical insurance. The biggest novelty is the inclusion of 11 new models of colostomy bags and systems and five new models of urostomy systems in the list of those compensated," Ion Dodon said.

Ion Dodon also said that the planned annual expenditure for compensating new medicines is estimated at about 35 million lei, and for medical devices - at over 24 million lei.
