The Government has approved the Plan of Measures to prepare for the 2023-2024 heating season. It is proposed to reduce gas consumption by 15%
Gradually increasing the volumes of stored natural gas, replenishing state reserves of fuel oil and coal, increasing commercial power generation capacity at Moldova's border with Romania are some of the actions included in the Plan of Measures to Prepare for the 2023-2024 Heating Season, approved by the Government on Wednesday. The approved measures also aim to reduce energy and natural gas consumption by 15 percent, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov stressed.
"This Government Decision comes to adjust the winter preparation to the existing realities. We are now much better prepared. We buy gas now, to have a reserve for winter at good prices, and these things are included in the new plan, which also aims to maintain a series of measures that will allow us to reduce consumption compared to the average of 2017 until 2022, to 15%", explained Victor Parlicov.
For his part, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that there is also a need for a campaign to promote the need to reduce electricity and gas consumption, as some consumers may have reservations in this regard.
