Dumitru Alaiba: "More than 1,500 patent holders have gone self-employed"
More than 1,500 patent holders have switched to self-employment, announced the Minister of Economic Development and Digitisation, Dumitru Alaiba. He also said that in some districts, more than 70% progress had been made in implementing the reform.
"The reform is in full implementation, we have passed 35 percent progress. Of the approximately 4,000 former patent holders, more than 1,500 have switched to the new self-employed regime. We are communicating with them and have an effort to reach out to each economic agent to help them comply. The State Tax Service communicates through markets with entrepreneurs. Obviously there are some technical issues that we are resolving along the way," said Dumitru Alaiba.
Dumitru Alaiba explained that the reform is in the process of implementation and the proposal by an independent member of parliament to extend the work on a patented basis by six months cannot be accepted.
As of 1 July, the patent-based activity has been replaced by independent activity, which implies a simplified tax regime for traders. In order to facilitate this transition, the ministry will provide non-reimbursable grants for the purchase of cash registers and will organise technical training.
