PSRM candidate for Chisinau mayor announced

Socialist deputy Adrian Albu is the candidate of the Party of Socialists for mayor of Chisinau municipality. The announcement was made by the political party a short while ago.

"The Party of Socialists has decided on a reliable candidate for the Chisinau City Hall. The candidacy of Adrian Albu, the Socialists' trusted candidate, was supported and voted. Mr Albu is a Socialist deputy, former head of the Parliament's Apparatus, a person with quite impressive managerial experience", said PSRM Executive Secretary Igor Dodon.

Earlier, the Party of Socialists and the Party of Communists publicly announced that they would go their separate ways in this autumn's local elections, although the parties form a joint bloc in parliament.

General local elections will be held on 5 November 2023.

According to the CEC, the election campaign will start on the date of registration of the electoral contestants, but not earlier than 30 days before the voting day.

So far, several political parties have announced their candidates for mayor of Chisinau. The Action and Solidarity Party has nominated MP Lilian Carp, chairman of the committee on national security, defence and public order. The candidate of the Coalition for Unity and Welfare party is Ion Bulgac, and Mihail Bagas was nominated by the social-political movement League of Cities and Communes.

The former deputy mayor of the capital, Victor Chironda, is the candidate of the DA Platform and Ion Purice - the candidate of the Liberal Party. At the same time, at the end of last month, the former mayor of the Buiucani district, Vadim Brînzaniuc announced that he is the candidate for the elections in Chisinau on behalf of the European Social Democratic Party.
