A Russian ship carrying fuel was hit by Ukrainian drones in the Kerch Strait
A Russian ship carrying fuel has been hit and damaged by Ukrainian drones in what appears to be the first attack on a cargo ship since the start of Moscow's withdrawal from the agreement allowing Ukrainian grain shipments on the Black Sea, the BBC reports.
The ship was hit in the Kerch Strait between Russia and the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
The attack led to a short suspension of road and rail traffic on the bridge across the strait.
A Ukrainian source told CNN that a sea drone carrying nearly 450 kilograms of TNT (trinitrotoluene) hit the ship and claimed there were about 100 Russian servicemen on board.
"A large naval vessel Olenogorsky Gornyak was hit," the source told CNN. "As a result of the attack, the Russian ship suffered serious damage and is unable to perform its duties."
