Three thousand new places will be opened in kindergartens across the country. Dan Perciun: "This is the most ambitious goal in financial terms"
The Ministry of Education and Research will open at least 3,000 new places in public kindergartens. A new per-child funding formula will also be approved in the near future, and staffing levels will be revised to allow the hiring of the specialists needed in pre-school institutions, Education Minister Dan Perciun announced.
"On the size of kindergartens, we need to increase the number of places, that is the main problem. We are talking about about 3,000 places that we have managed to create. It is probably, financially speaking, the most ambitious goal. At the moment, we only have about 60-70 million lei from a World Bank project to start opening new kindergarten places in 2024, and we are going to identify more resources to convince more international partners to contribute to this effort."
Dan Perciun added that kindergartens will have the right to move to financial self-management.
The Ministry of Education and Research aims to equip at least 300 educational institutions with computers and digital laboratories by the end of the year, and at least 90% of educational institutions will have indoor toilets by the end of 2024.
