About 50 employees of the Moldovan Railways (CFM) are working to remove the consequences of the railway accident that occurred yesterday afternoon. The six wagons loaded with grain that derailed off the tracks have been removed and rerouted to Basarabeasca station, CFM said in a statement.
"In order not to waste the cargo, the damaged wagons full of grain are unloaded in a special place. For this purpose, a special crane is also on site to lift and direct the wagons," CFM adds.
According to the source quoted, workers have laid 50 metres of track with new concrete rails and sleepers. In total, 150 metres of track are to be rehabilitated.
On 5 August, on the Culma - Ceadir-Lunga railway section, a railway accident occurred when six wagons loaded with grain broke loose and derailed from the track. The train with 61 freight wagons was travelling from Basarabeasca station to the port of Reni, Ukraine.
