Kyiv welcomes the results of the summit in Saudi Arabia

Ukraine announced on Monday that it is "satisfied" with the summit organized in Saudi Arabia, at the end of last week, regarding a possible peace agreement to end the fighting, to which Moscow was not invited, reports AFP.

The summit held in Jeddah was attended by representatives from around 40 countries, including China, India, the United States and Ukraine.

"We are very satisfied with the results of the summit," said the head of the office of the Ukrainian presidency, Andriy Yermak.

He added that the principle of a new meeting was accepted "but no exact date has been set", adding that "several countries will participate". Earlier, Moscow had reiterated that only the capitulation of Kiev could end its offensive.

"We are confident that a truly comprehensive, sustainable and fair settlement is possible only if the regime in Kiev ceases hostilities and terrorist attacks," said the spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy, Maria Zakharova.

In Washington, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller described China's participation in the summit as "productive."

The meeting in Jeddah was held behind closed doors and in total discretion as to its content, as was the case previously held in Copenhagen.

The meeting was attended by advisers to heads of government and representatives of foreign ministries and is expected to pave the way for a summit of leaders that Kiev hopes to organize this autumn around Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's Peace Formula , notes EFE.
