Igor Grosu: With the passing of winter, Russia's military actions in Ukraine will intensify
With the passing of winter, Russia's military actions in Ukraine could intensify, claims the President of the Parliament Igor Grosu, referring to military science. He declared on a "Special Edition" from Radio Moldova that possible developments of the war will depend a lot on the Ukrainian side, which resists and defends its territories, and we must remain vigilant.
"Unfortunately, the Russian Federation does not rest in military science. With the passing of winter, military actions intensify. What it will be, it's hard to say, statements have been made that are based on analysis. We exchange with our partners, unfortunately the airstrikes will continue during the winter, the Russian army continues its terrorist tactics to attack cities, electricity distribution centres. As long as the Ukrainian people resist and liberate their territories, we are safe," declared Igor Grosu.
Radio Moldova recalls that at the beginning of this week, in an interview for TVR Moldova, the director of the Intelligence and Security Service, Alexandru Musteata, stated that the Russian Federation would plan to invade the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of 2023, and the implementation of the scenario depends by the developments of the war in Ukraine.
Afterwards, the director of the SIS urged the population to calm down in the context in which the statement he made earlier was misinterpreted in society. He stated that in 2023, the Russian Federation could launch a new offensive on the territory of Ukraine from the West, a fact that represents a risk for the Republic of Moldova as well.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița mentioned that the Executive is analysing all the risks that may arise with the escalation of the war in Ukraine and is preparing for any scenario.
