Israeli authorities will treat seriously the extradition request of former Moldovan MP Ilan Shor
The extradition of former fugitive MP Ilan Shor, sentenced to 15 years in prison in Moldova for fraud and money laundering, is a legal decision and will be treated by the Israeli authorities with "utmost seriousness and respect". The statement was made in Chisinau by Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, reports Moldpres.
"I assure you that we take such matters, as well as our bilateral relations in general, with utmost seriousness and respect," Eli Cohen said.
Ilan Shor was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison in April this year. The decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal also provides for the seizure of assets worth more than 5 billion lei.
Ilan Shor is currently in Israel, where he is also a citizen. The Moldovan authorities have requested his extradition to serve his sentence in our country, but have not yet received a reply.
