During the cold season, low-income families will benefit from several compensation programmes
Low-income families will benefit from several compensation programmes during the cold period of the year, including for electricity, Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu told Rlive. According to the official, two new energy vulnerability categories have been requested to identify low-income families. Aid for the cold period of the year will be integrated into the compensation programme, the official said.
"We will endeavour to have access to more data sources this year on the income of households applying for cold season humanitarian support. At the same time, we are in the process of budget rectification, we want to see what financial sources are available at this time that we can program for this programme. Now we also have to integrate the cold-weather aid component into the new compensation system", explained the Minister of Labour and Social Protection.
Alexei Buzu also noted that the Energy Efficiency Agency is developing a voucher programme for high-efficiency equipment, which will be offered to low-income families.
In the previous cold season, the Government granted energy compensation in the amount of 3.4 billion lei, with 5.8 billion lei planned in the state budget. 763 thousand of the households registered in the information system have received an increased vulnerability rating.
