Eight agreements concluded on the CSI platform were denounced by Parliament in the spring session

In the past ordinary session, Parliament denounced eight agreements concluded on the platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The documents are related to energy, education, labor protection, standardization, liquidation of the consequences of emergency situations, free trade. In the context of our country's European journey, participation in CIS commitments or projects becomes irrelevant.

Among the denounced agreements are the Convention on the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states, the Agreement providing for the creation and activity of the Interstate Teleradio company "MIR" or the Agreement on interaction in the field of prevention and liquidation of the consequences of emergency natural and man-made situations, concluded in Minsk on January 22, 1993, the Agreement on collaboration in the field of labor protection, the Agreement on the promotion of a coordinated policy in the field of standardization, metrology and certification and the Agreement on the support and development of small entrepreneurship in the member states of the CIS. At the last meeting of the Parliament in the spring session of 2023, the Collaboration Agreement for the formation of the single (common) educational space within the Community of Independent States and the Agreement on technical barriers in the free trade area were also denounced.

Another six projects to denounce the agreements with the CIS are registered in the Parliament and are to be examined by the deputies.

We remind that, previously, the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, addressed a request to the Government by which he requested the initiation of the regulatory procedure for the withdrawal of the Republic of Moldova from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
