Anatolie Nosatîi: Joining NATO requires amending the Constitution and convincing society
For the Republic of Moldova to join NATO, the authorities must amend the Constitution and to convince the society that this step is necessary, and this could take a long time, says the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatâi.
The official stated on a show on Deschide.md that, over the years, the authorities have managed to increase cooperation with the military bloc, increasing the number of Alliance projects, which are carried out in our country.
"The legal or political status depends on several factors. First of all, the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the second is the preparation of society to accept this cooperation, which, according to me, lasts. I personally believe in collective defense, because practice shows that there was no war in NATO member countries. NATO member countries are safer from the dangers and threats coming from outside. This would be an example for many to analyse," said the minister.
Anatolie Nosatâi said that NATO member countries are safer from external threats and provide citizens with an increased security environment, a fact that makes society develop and the economy strengthens.
