Igor Grosu, about Duty-Free: They will reinvent themselves and continue to work
The chain of Duty-Free stores within the premises of the Chisinau International Airport, whose license has expired, will continue to operate, with the full payment of all taxes and fees, without exceptions, said the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, at a "Special Edition" from Radio Moldova. According to him, this network was previously used for non-transparent financing of organized criminal groups.

"Now I think that the stores will continue their activity, but they will not be in the preferential regime, Duty-Free, because for some products you do not see much difference between the costs in this type of store and in the others outside the regime. They will reinvent themselves because it is a favorite place for many economic agents because people pass by, want to take a gift, want to purchase something. I believe that this free, empty place will not remain", declared Igor Grosu.
Radio Moldova recalls that at the beginning of November, the Parliament approved in the second reading a draft law for the elimination of the duty-free regime on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, according to the project, the store on the territory of the Chisinau International Airport will be active only until December 22, and those in the exit areas of the country are to be closed at the beginning of September next year.
