Moldova to receive $90 million grant from the World Bank

Moldova will receive a $90 million grant from the World Bank, one of the five international financial organisations that make up the World Bank Group. An agreement to this effect was ratified today at the Government meeting.

Finance Minister Veronica Sireteanu explained that the international assistance will be used to finance the general needs of the state budget.

"We have also previously spoken about this grant agreement, which provides for the allocation of a $88 million grant to Moldova by the World Bank, which represents the contribution of the United States and Switzerland to this fund. The grant will be used in accordance with the eight actions carried out by Moldova under the program of policy-development operations financed on the basis of the financing line concluded with the World Bank," the Minister of Finance underlined.

The Grant Agreement between Moldova and the World Bank was signed on August 9.
