Ukrainian drone attack thwarted by Russian air defence

Russia's air defence systems shot down three Ukrainian drones near the Kaluga region, which borders the Moscow region to the north, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

The drones were reportedly shot down early in the morning, around 05:00 Moscow time (02:00 GMT). There were no reports of casualties or damage.

The Kaluga region is located about 200 kilometres (124 miles) southwest of Moscow. It is one of several Russian regions that have been targeted by Ukrainian drones in recent months.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian drones were trying to carry out a "terrorist attack" on the Kaluga region. However, the Ukrainian military has not commented on the incident.
