Moldovan universities accredited at European level
Five universities in Moldova have been accredited at European level, which allows the recognition and compatibility of diplomas issued by them in European Union countries, the Ministry of Education announces.
The accreditation was granted by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS) for a period of five years to the State University of Moldova, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the "Alecu Russo" State University of Balti, the "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu" State University of Cahul and the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.
The accreditation is a step towards internationalising study programmes and attracting more foreign students, a ministry statement said.
The preparation for this process has taken more than two years and involved a rigorous evaluation process by ARACIS. The agency analysed the work of university management, teaching, scientific and research staff. At the same time, the quality of teaching, objectives and development strategies of the universities were evaluated.
Among the recommendations put forward by the international experts are ensuring the visibility of the institutions at international level, including by increasing the number of students and staff on academic mobility, and strengthening the institution's language policy by offering foreign language courses in all faculties.
The accreditation of these five universities is a major achievement for Moldova's higher education system and is a sign of its commitment to quality and international standards.
