Russia's only aircraft carrier engulfed in flames
A major fire broke out on board the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, anchored in the docks of the port of Murmansk, where it has been undergoing extensive repairs since 2017, reports Digi24.
In total, 20 people on board the aircraft carrier were evacuated.
Docked in 2017 for repairs, the Russian aircraft carrier was badly damaged in 2018 when a huge floating dock that was being used for repairs sank.
A few days ago, high-ranking officials in the Russian military said that the ship is to be removed from the docks and returned to service by 2024. Admiral Kuznetsov is the only aircraft carrier in the Russian Navy's equipment, entered service in 1991.
