Russia launches 17 drones at Ukraine, 15 shot down
Russia launched 17 drones at Ukraine overnight Friday into Saturday in an attempt to strike the northern, central, and western regions of the country, the Ukrainian Air Force announced Saturday.
Ukrainian military aviation added that 15 Shahed drones of Iranian manufacture, launched by Russia, were shot down. The fate of the two remaining drones is unknown.
It was not immediately clear what targets Russia was targeting in its attack.
The Russian Ministry of Defense did not immediately comment on the Ukrainian report.
In a separate incident, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that Russia's air defence forces shot down a missile launched overnight from Ukraine at Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula illegally annexed by Russia in 2014.
The ministry said there were no casualties or material damage.
