Gagauz Governor approves new Executive Committee list in Comrat
The governor of the Gagauz autonomy, Evghenia Guțul, has approved a new executive committee list in Comrat, according to local activist Leonid Dobrov, according to nokta.md
The list, dated August 18th, bears the signature of Bashkan Guțul and includes 21 candidates. Notably absent from the list are the mayor of Orhei, Pavel Verejanu, and legal advisor Iuri Kuznețov.
The seven candidates who did not pass the Gagauz language proficiency test have been replaced.
It is not yet known when the People's Assembly will convene to review the new executive committee list.
The last attempt to approve the composition of the Gagauz autonomy's Executive Committee failed on August 11th. The proposal put forth by Bashkan Guțul failed to secure the required number of votes.
According to the law, the governor of the Gagauz autonomy has the right to dissolve the People's Assembly ahead of schedule if the executive committee is not formed within 45 days of the composition proposal.
