Ukraine seeks F-16 fighter jets from Netherlands

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the Netherlands on Sunday for talks with Prime Minister Mark Rutte on the delivery of F-16 fighter jets.

The visit comes days after the United States approved the possible transfer of the jets from the Netherlands and Denmark to Ukraine.

"The main topic of the negotiations will be the delivery of F-16s to Ukraine to protect our people from Russian terror," Zelensky wrote on the Telegram channel.

The jets would be a significant boost to Ukraine's air force, which has been heavily depleted in the war against Russia.

Zelensky is also expected to discuss the Global Peace Summit and its peace formula with Rutte. The summit is scheduled to take place later this year.

The day before his visit to the Netherlands, Zelensky visited Sweden, where he met with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The two leaders discussed the possibility of Sweden transferring Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine.
