Moldovan President attends working meeting with Balkan leaders
Moldovan President Maia Sandu is in Athens on a working visit at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriákos Mitsotákis, the Presidency issued a press release.
The head of state is taking part in a working meeting of heads of state and government from south-eastern Europe and the Western Balkans, which will focus on the development of regional cooperation in the region.
The meeting will also discuss the challenges posed by the conflict in Ukraine to the states participating in the Athens dialogue.
The meeting is being held in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the need for greater cooperation between the countries of the region.
The participants will also discuss the progress made in the accession of the Western Balkan countries to the European Union.
The meeting is being attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel and heads of state and government from south-eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.
