Drone attacks on Moscow continue

Russia announced on Tuesday morning that it shot down two Ukrainian drones in the Moscow region, where incidents of this type have been increasing in recent weeks, Agerpres.ro reports.

"An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles has been thwarted. Two drones were detected and destroyed by air defence systems over the territory of the Moscow region," the Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram.

According to Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of the Russian capital, who reported on Telegram, one device was shot down in the Krasnogorsk area, 20 km northwest of the Kremlin, and a second in the Chasty area, about 50 km southwest of central Moscow. The relevant services are on the scene, the capital's mayor added.

Moscow's Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo international airports were closed for arrivals and departures, according to state news agency TASS, which later announced the resumption of landings at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.

Drone strikes inside Russian territory have been on the rise for weeks, mostly without causing damage or casualties, and targeting Russia's capital, more than 500 km from the border with Ukraine.

On Monday, Russia claimed to have thwarted new Ukrainian drone strikes near Moscow and in the Kaluga region, causing no casualties or damage.
