Prime Minister Dorin Recean to attend Crimea Platform Summit in Ukraine

Prime Minister Dorin Recean will represent the Republic of Moldova at the Crimea Platform Summit to be held in Ukraine on August 23, 2023. The summit is an international forum for consultation and coordination of efforts to liberate the Crimean Peninsula, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014. The information was confirmed to Radio Moldova by Daniel Vodă, the spokesperson of the Prime Minister.

Recean will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Victor Parlicov, Minister of Energy Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Ruslan Bolbocean, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ruslan Bolbocean.

The Crimea Platform was initiated by Ukraine in 2021 and is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, responding to increased security threats, increasing international pressure on the Russian Federation, preventing further human rights violations and protecting the victims of the occupation regime, as well as achieving the main goal - the liberation of Crimea and its return to Ukrainian control.

This year's summit will be the third time that it has been held. Last year, President Maia Sandu gave an online speech at the summit, in which she reaffirmed her support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, which include Crimea.

The summit is expected to be attended by representatives from over 40 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Turkey.
