Moldova, Ukraine leaders meet in Athens to discuss grain exports, EU integration

President Maia Sandu of Moldova and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine met in Athens on Tuesdasy to discuss pressing issues of bilateral cooperation, regional security, and common opposition to the Kremlin's aggressive policy and Russian hybrid influence.

The two leaders discussed cooperation between their countries in creating alternative routes for Ukrainian grain exports after Russia blocked the Black Sea Grain Initiative. They also discussed the integration of Moldova and Ukraine into the European Union.

Sandu and Zelensky noted the active development of political dialogue between their countries and discussed new contacts, in particular the participation of the Republic of Moldova in the third international summit of the Crimean Platform in Kiev on August 23. Prime Minister Dorin Recean will represent the Republic of Moldova at the summit.
