Iohannis: Romania to continue to support Moldova's EU accession
Romania will continue to support Moldova's accession to the European Union, as well as the resilience, security, and prosperity of its citizens, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said in a message of congratulations to Moldova on the occasion of Independence Day.
"Congratulations, Moldova, on the occasion of Independence Day! Romania is with Moldova and will continue to support its accession to the European Union, to support the resilience, security, and prosperity of its citizens," Iohannis said.
Today, at 32 years of independence, Moldova is a candidate country for EU membership, a status it received last summer. Moldovan authorities are aiming to open accession negotiations by the end of this year. The major goal is for Moldova to become a member of the EU by 2030. The values promoted during the national liberation movement, such as respect for human rights, freedom of expression, security, justice, and the well-being of citizens, are also found in European values.
