Drone crashes into Russian building, no casualties
A drone crashed into a residential building in Kursk, the capital of Russia's Kursk region bordering Ukraine, in the early hours of Sunday morning, local authorities said, AFP and Reuters report, as quoted by Agerpres.
Regional governor Roman Starovoit said that the drone crashed into a building on the outskirts of the city, breaking windows on several floors. A nearby regional university building was also damaged, but no one was injured.
"No fire broke out, no one was injured," Starovoit said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that it shot down two Ukrainian drones in the Kursk and Bryansk regions on Sunday. The ministry said that the drones were carrying explosives and were heading for Russian military facilities.
Ukrainian attacks with drones and bombings on Russian regions bordering Ukraine have increased in recent months. On Saturday, Russia said it shot down three Ukrainian drones near Moscow and in the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, and that one civilian was killed and six others injured in Ukrainian bombings on the same day.
